Having a doula on your team is a great way to be informed, prepared, and supported before, during, and after your birth experience. Before labor, a doula can help you to verbalize and organize birth preferences, offer information and resources, and can help mother and family prepare for the new addition. In labor, a doula is a continuous presence providing emotional and (non-medical) physical support, from the moment labor commences through to the birth of the baby and early postpartum stages. After birth, your doula can provide breastfeeding support and resources for the emotional and physical transition.
Studies have shown that a doula present at birth reduces the need for pain medication and medical interventions, and women with a doula report a more positive overall birth experience.*
Katie's birth doula services can be personalized with prenatal massage and (postpartum) infant massage packages. It is always best to meet with several potential doulas before choosing the one that is right for you. Please contact Katie for a free, in-person consultation to determine a good fit.
