Massage is a great tool for healthy well children, as well as for children with special health care needs. Among other benefits, massage for children has been shown to improve immune system function, improve muscle tone and -- much like massage affects adults -- it can be a stress reducer. This is especially helpful for children in health care and hospice settings, children who have experienced trauma, and simply for health maintenance for differently abled children coping with physical or cognitive disabilities.
Katie will work as part of your child's health care team to determine the best course of action for incorporating massage into your child's routine. Katie is also open to and encourages work with siblings and caregivers, as massage is an excellent tool for the entire family in times of hospitalization, adjustment, and transition.
